9/15/21 - Ahab returns to his Palace at Jezreel in a great rainstorm. The first rain in three and a half years. He tells Jezebel all that he witnessed that day: how Elijah prayed, the answer by fire from heaven, the slaying of the prophets, and Elijah's prayer for rain. Jezebel was not converted by this, but rather hardened. For he will have mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

8/29/21 - The law is not our ally. It lays out the perfect righteousness of God which cannot be kept, and demands judgment against breakers of its contents. All of man was both condemned by the law, and held under its judgement unto death. Our state under the law was hopeless, and God sent forth His Son to be our substitute in judgement, dying in our place and completing our obligation to the law. Does all this mean the law is sin? Nay, because we were sinners and guilty towards God before the law was given. The law came for two purposes, to reveal unto mankind their guilt before God, and point them towards the propitiation of Christ Jesus.
